Featured photo February 2023

This photograph was taken by my father, Fred Wehmiller, in the summer of 1953.  It shows my sister, Ellie, and me, tumbling in a field while on a family trip in southwestern Germany.  Our family roots are in this region, and the trip, which combined business and pleasure, included visiting places where our ancestors lived.   The photo is remarkable in that it is framed so well (this is the full slide, with no cropping) and, to my knowledge, it is the only photo taken of this scene.  Thankfully the film is still in pretty good shape after 70 years!  It is one of dozens of family photographs that we’ve scanned over the past few years.

Contax camera, Kodachrome slide film (ASA 25).
